Roadmap for today: 1. Collective Impact is in today at 9:00 to tell us about the work they are doing in our community around housing, transportation and employment. They work towards the moto of 'affordability for all'. They will introduce themselves and you will then break into smaller groups to do some work with a member of their team. They are here from 9-10am 2. Second block we will do our equality vs. equity lesson and you'll have some time to either read and journal, or work on your art pieces. Ideally, these are due at the end of February so we can move onto our next unit of study. What we did: 1. Collective Impact visit summary - Lisa, Taha, Leslie and Lucie from Collective Impact came in today. They explained their work with Collective Impact (formerly known as the Poverty Reduction Team). They explained their roles and the task for today. Students gathered into 5 groups and discussed issues and solutions surrounding transportation, food security, employment and more. 2. Second block: - We watched a short video on equity vs. equality (see below) and then did a pre-learning mind map on EQUALITY, EQUITY AND JUSTICE. - Looked at some photos and decided what the showed (equality, equity or justice) The file is attached below as a pdf -we did a worksheet with various examples of inequality/inequity and you proposed solutions to make these situations more just.
