Roadmap for today: 1. Smiles and Frowns, and then finish Erin Brokovich 2. Discuss themes and thoughts from the movie 3. Compile and discuss the "draw the line" activity from last week 4. Develop classroom Charter of Rights 5. I don't think there will be time today, but just in case: Start identity lesson What we did: We pretty much followed the roadmap today. After we finished the movie we discussed, briefly, that water rights issues are still happening in Canada and the US with mention of Flint, Michigan and Attawapisskat First Nation. Students were asked to go into 7 small groups to dissect and discuss the UN Convention on The Rights of The Child. Each group then came back to the larger class and summarized their findings. We then translated these rights into our classroom convention. Dana (or most likely another amazing artist) will write these out nicely and we will all sign them.
